I need to get ~2,000$ dollars quick. What type of loan options are available?
I just got hit by the brick that my father refused to even hint might be happening. He strung me along for 3 months, claiming "yes come stay with me for the summer"… He just got evicted from his home, that I found out he stopped making payments on ~ 8 months ago. I have to go get an apartment, and live for a little over 2 more months. I looked at my budget and it looks like I need ~ a minimum of 2,000$.
Thing is, I start a PhD program in August. With that, comes a 25,000$ stipend and ~ 20,000$ in student loans. Problem is, I turned away from all the options available for this short period of time that I am not in undergraduate and I am waiting for my graduate school to start. I have no job, nothing saved up.
Are there any loans I might be able to get? I am trying to avoid paydayloans, but it’s looking like that is my only option. I have looked hard for a job. I can either stay here, in the town my father lives in, and pay ~ 1200$ a month minimum for rent until I go to my new school, or I can drive back to my old school, and stay at an apartment there. Either way, a job will be very hard to find. Especially when I will just flake in 2 months. I think a 2,000$ loan is my best option. Are there any options?

If your credit score is less than that, unforunately you would need some sort of verification that you have enough income over an extended period of time to pay off the loan. They would also take into consideration that you’ll be responsible for paying your student loans back after you graduate, which would raise your debt-to-income ratio, telling the financial institution that you won’t have enough income to pay off all your debts AND a new $2,000 loan.
These are just general standards, and it could be that different financial institutions will be more giving, so it may be worth a shot, but generaly speaking, it’s not looking good.

Well, to start with consider an extended stay hotel. I moved to the college town a month before I started my PhD, and lived in a hotel room with my husband and a dog before we found something. Also, I was able to get an emergency loan from the school.
Don’t know if you can get a payday loan if you don’t have a pay day coming. There are Peer to Peer loans online where other people loan money.
Try a temp agency.
